Hi, I’m Emily!

My life-long passion for animals has guided both my work in animal welfare and my focus in photography. As a child, I would watch “Homeward Bound” and “Free Willy” and pause the movies on my favourite animal scenes to take what I thought at the time were beautiful portraits on my dad’s film camera of Shadow the Golden Retriever reuniting with his family at the end (spoiler alert, sorry!) and an orca breaching out of the water. I love that I’m still following my passion for animals and photography today - thankfully I take much better photos these days!

It was my rescue dog Sophie, a golden retriever mix, who inspired me to pick up my camera again and document our adventures and every day moments together. My many years of experience in the rescue and animal welfare field, ranging from fostering animals, to running the day to day operations of a dog rescue, has given me a strong understanding of animals. This has also inspired me to use photography to help other rescue dogs find their perfect homes.

I love meeting people and their pets and learning their unique stories. My goal through Embark Photography is to capture your pet’s unique personality and the special bond between you and them in photos that will be cherished for years to come. My photography style is laid back and easy-going - no pressure for your pet to pose perfectly!

I’d love to meet and photograph you and your best furry friend!
